HOW IT WORKS FOR TEACHERS

Izispik guarantees that teachers do not pay any commissions. The price you choose is the price you earn!

STEPS TO START TEACHING ON IZISPIK

  1. To become an Izispik Tutor or Qualified Teacher click on "Become a Tutor" on Izispik homepage or click here http://izispik.com/en/tutor-registration

  2. On the registration page you must upload your profile picture. This is very important since this picture is the first thing that a potential client will look at. It should be a full-face or three-quarters photo with good lighting and a friendly smile on your face.

  3. After you have uploaded the profile picture, choose your type of teaching. On Izispik you can be either an Izispik Tutor or a Qualified Teacher.

Izispik Tutor is an advanced or native speaker who helps his students improve their speaking skills through communication. Qualified Teacher is a highly experienced trained professional who is qualified to teach languages.

If you choose to become a Qualified Teacher, make sure that you have the corresponding diplomas and/or certificates, which can prove your status on Izispik. In order to obtain a validated Qualified Teacher profile, you need to upload the latter in good quality (png or jpeg file). If you don't have any documents to prove your experience and qualification, you can still become an Izispik Tutor.

  1. Fill in the general information about yourself , such as name, contact information, time zone, languages you speak and teach, desired price per lesson and a few sentences about yourself.

Remember that clients are first of all appealed by nicely and accurately filled profiles, so don't hesitate to spend some time on the description of your strengths, teaching methods and approaches you use in class. You should also choose your specialties.

In the drop-down menu, you will find six possible options: Beginner level and English for Travelling, Advanced level and business English, Oral practice and understanding, Grammar and writing, Exam or interview preparation, Lessons for children and teenagers. You can select one or several items simultaneously.

  1. Finally, Izispik requires from its teachers to upload a short video presentation.

This is necessary if you want to become a successful teacher on the platform. Izispik requires that you upload your video presentation within a month after you have registered on the platform. By making the video, you demonstrate your ability to speak fluently. This is your 'business card' on the platform. Note, that you will not be able to become a part of our teaching team if you skip this step.

GENERAL RULES ON WHAT THE VIDEO SHOULD LOOK LIKE

  • ✔ Record the video only in horizontal mode.

  • ✔ Your video should be between 1,5 to 3 minutes.

  • Start your video with a sentence in French"Bonjour, je m'appelle (name) et je serai heureuse (heureux for a man) d'être votre professor sur Izispik". After you have said this, continue your video presentation with the languages you teach. This is required by Izispik because most of your clients will be French.

  • If you speak French , make the first 30 seconds of your video presentation in French.

  • Speak in all the languages you are going to teach. This will show your professionalism.

  • ✔ The background should be clean and unostentatious. It's better if your workplace represents a study room or classroom.

  • Speak clearly. Do not allow any distracting background noise.

  • ✔ The lighting should be natural or you can use a powerful lamp lighting from the front.

  • You can be a little bit creative and use subtle background music. Please, use copyrighted music only.

  • Avoid sudden and quick movements in your videos. Try to 'anchor' more.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM OUR TEACHERS

We are looking forward to working with professionals, who love what they do and are able to provide lessons of high quality. In this respect, we created a list of good teacher qualities necessary to meet our criteria of professionalism :

MEET THE NEEDS OF YOUR CLIENT

It is crucial to understand the reason why your student is learning a foreign language. Once you do that, it is much easier to adapt your tutoring to these needs, encouraging and helping the student to progress faster.

DEMONSTRATE YOUR SKILLS

Show that you are aware of what you are teaching. Speak clearly and confidently, use good language. But be careful, it is your client who takes lessons, not you. Your lessons must be student-centered, cutting teacher talking time to 20-30%. Also, grade your language to the appropriate level – don't make it a struggle for your students trying to understand what you are saying.

CHECK YOUR STUDENTS' PROGRESS

Constantly assess your students. Finish your lessons with a quick overview of what you have just learned, including drills to exercise pronunciation.

PUNCTUALITY

Punctuality is a sign of professionalism that helps you stand out as a reliable and trustworthy person.

BOND WITH YOUR STUDENTS

The connection between you and your students guarantees they will be more motivated, more willing to participate, and more receptive to the activities you propose.

CULTURAL INSIGHT

A clear understanding of the culture will help you create a stronger bond with your students.

PATIENCE

Your students will be different. Some of them might need a bit more time to understand the topic or learn the correct pronunciation of difficult words.

KINDNESS

Create an inviting atmosphere in your lessons. This will make your students want to continue having lessons with you. And isn't that what you want most? ☺

HUMOR

When your students are laughing, they are paying attention. Humor is a tool to get your students excited and boost their motivation to learn. Besides, laughter makes the delivery of a difficult topic easier to understand, so don't hesitate to use this tool in your lessons.
